War of the Burning Sky Campaign Guide - Is Piratecat around?

OK -- so I got the download link for my WotBS campaign guide.

Good stuff and the cover art is awesome. I like the map overlay a LOT.

One question.... I haven't read the whole Prologue yet, but would it be proper to pass this on to players? I mean, even if it has some DM only stuff, you can tell the players that, and allow them to RP the fact that their PCs don't know it. I am hoping that the background will help build tension in game.

Any thoughts?

Except for some of the information on campaign power groups, the Players Guide honestly does a better job of selling the campaign to the players, IMO. I don't think there is anything so damaging in the Campaign Guide that allowing them to read it would make playing the campaign pointless. It does outline the whole adventure path, but you can decide if you're players can handle that.

Well, I don't want to give them the campaign guide. I was asking about the Prologue.

(note: I still haven't read it yet.... lazy, no.... busy, yes. :) )

On Page 20 , you discuss the Burning Sky, and you have an option for low levels, but it doesn't say anywhere what the base ruling is on in-combat teleportation. the Chaoptic Teleportation section says that short range teleport powers deal fire damage, but it doesn't say how much.

Is this an accidental omission?

It's in the Player's Guide. 1 point per square, basically.

It's really intended for the DM to help him get a feel for the events leading up to the first adventure; it does contain some spoilers, but I don't think it would do any real harm showing it to the players. It's really your call - you know your players better than we do.

I think the stuff from "December" onwards is more problematic than the stuff about the Ragesians before it. It pretty much signposts what the bad guys are going to do in the very first encounter.

I think they've got enough to read with the Player's Guide, though. I'd be personally concerned about overwhelming them with too much information at the start.
 

All good points Morrus. As I have read through both in the past two days, I agree. The player's guilde is plenty, and maybe there could be some prologue stuff in there that might come out in a bard's tale or story in-game.

As for the Burning Sky effect, it may serve you well to add the full mechanics to the Campaign Guide as well, since you are discussing it in detail for the DMs.

There are pretty clear points in the adventure path where most (or all) of this information in the prologue could be told or even read directly to the players....

So don't worry, that info isn't just for your enjoyment.

As an aside, thanks. When planning the covers, I knew I was going to use Sean's maps to hearken back to the line maps that graced the 3.5 covers, but I had a hankering to give them a "parchment" treatment. Two public domain photographs, one free font, and some Photoshop work (most of it in a hospital waiting room), and there you have it.
