War of the Spider Queen characters

Brakkart

First Post
A while back Dragon ran a couple articles that detailed the stats and such of many of the major characters from the War of the Spider Queen sextet of novels. The first article was in #302 and detailed Pharaun (my favourite), Jeggred, Quenthel and Gromph. The second was in #312 and detailed Ryld, Valas, the lichdrow Dyrr and Halisstra (Boo. You suck!). At the end of the second article it mentions a forthcoming third article to cover the rest of the cast (which I would hope would stat out Danifae, Nimor and hopefully Aliisza too).

My question is: Has this third article ever been published, and if so, what issue was it in?

Never mind, I found it in Dragon #322 which stats out Halisstra (again) after her conversion to Eilistraee, as well as Danifae and Nimor. I'm actually disapointed that there are no stats for Aliisza given her role in the series (they'd never have gotten back to the Abyss without her lending Pharaun some help). Ohh well, hopefully Thomas M. Reid will do an article with stats for her and Kaanyr Vhok (such a cool villain) to accompany his forthcoming trilogy that stars the evil pair. I can but hope!

I'm actually annoyed that they killed off Pharaun. He was by far and away the best character in the series. For him to get killed was a bad decision. For him to die in the frankly very lame way that he did was just poor writing. I very much hope that he gets resurrected/raised back to life. He'd make a nice addition to Kaanyr's command staff of the Scourged Legion.

What really gets me though is how Halisstra Melarn gets a trilogy. She was a terrible character and I found myself grateful each time the sections of the books covering her were over.

Anyone want to spill a little detail about their character sheets?

I liked Pharaun, but I'm okay with him dying. He did betray his sword-wielding friend, who also died. Balance, of a sort. Plus, he died in a kind of funny way. The dumb guy was smart for once!

I agree about Halisstra. I also hated her. I'm just a bit surprised she didn't insta-convert Quenthel and Danifae... every other female drow who has ever encountered an Eilistraeen was converted. There must be a high Will DC that only very high level drow can make, or something.

What's this about a Halisstra trilogy? Do you mean an independent one? I'm certainly not buying that one. Being an Eilistraeen is bad enough, but she doesn't even get to be part of an adventuring party. And isn't she dead, or cocooned forever?

No she is now Lolth's Lady Penitent, basically a death knight charged with slaughtering drow heretics (read: any drow who worships any other god than Lolth, especially worshippers of Eilistraee and Vhaeraun). Lisa Smedman is writing the trilogy. The first book is out in February 2007. I'll read it (I read every FR novel sooner or later), but I don't have any great hopes for it, even with a good writer at the helm. she is just simply a very dull character.

As for character stats:

Pharaun: Wizard14/Archmage3
Quenthel: Cleric15/Dis4 of Lolth
Jeggred: Barbarian9/Fighter4
Gromph: Diviner18/Archmage4

Dyrr the lichdrow: Sorceror22/Wizard3/Cleric1 of Velsharoon
Ryld: Rogue2/Fighter15
Valas: Rogue10/Ranger2/Fighter4
Halisstra: Bard8/Cleric10 of Llolth

Halisstra: Bard8/Cleric10 of Eilistraee
Danifae: Rogue2/Cleric13/Blackguard2
Nimor: Half Shadow Dragon Rogue3/Fighter4/Assassin9

All of them have some very nice unique items. I'd say I pretty much agree with all their stats except Danifae having less charisma than Halisstra and I could have sworn that Valas was a shadowdancer. The first 4 characters are statted as of the end of Dissolution, the second 4 as of the end of Condemnation and the last 3 as of the end of Annihilation. With the exception of Gromph I'd say Pharaun, Quenthel and Jeggred should certainly gain a couple levels each to catch them up to the stats of those in the 3rd group (and to represent the XP they've gained during the quest thus far, considering what they've been through on the way!)

I'd actually like to see a 4th article in this series, covering Kaanyr Vhok, Aliisza and Triel Baenre, all of whom are pretty major characters of the series. Richard Baker, if you're reading this, any chance of that? Please?
