I ran a three-encounter long module at a convention recently. One of the characters was a level 2 wildblood warden wielding a great axe. I only really noticed two things about this character when it was in action (I'd likely notice more if there was a longer campaign). The character did a respectable amount of damage, particularly with Wildblood Frenzy. But if you wield a d12 weapon you're going to be blasting things to kingdom come anyway. :) It felt at least as strikery as a great weapon fighter. The other thing I noticed was that Font of Life came in *huge* for this group. The final encounter was against this sentient idol with a dominate ability (I cribbed it from the level 26 evil altar trap in the DMG). The idol randomly attacked PCs, hitting the warden three times over the course of the fight (I think the idol got 7 or 8 attacks in total). By virtue of Font of Life, the warden was able to shake off the dominate effect before he took his turn. The aftereffect is a dazed condition, but the warden was able to use his normal save to shake that off as well. So what could have been a crushing attack was thwarted in large part by the warden. The warden was also able to shrug off the ongoing damage cause by the rat swarm as well. The warden's marking abilities didn't come into play all that often. But that was okay, as there was a dwarf guardian fighter that took over a lot of the tanking. So all in all the warden seems like a great class. Font of Life is the bomb. :) I can't wait to see it played in the long term!
