At 1/4 the time and cost, you’ll want to craft some wands. Choose ahead of time whether to focus on using a crossbow for offense, or spells, bc the class design supports both but action economy wants you to choose. Also, crossbow expert vs spell sniper. If you pick spell sniper and a focus on offensive magic, I’d pick Eldritch Blast. Force is rarely resisted, and a wand that shoots Eldritch Blast is a great fantasy sidearm. If crossbow, I’d talk to your dm about tinkering up a repeating crossbow so you don’t need a hand free, and take full advantage of the hand crossbow part of the crossbow expert feat. I’d also talk to them about making things like exploding arrows, and arrows that deliver acid and alchemists fire. Spell selection is straight forward. Crawford said that the next UA will add spells to the Artificers list, among other things. Hopefully Absorb Elements makes it.</blockquote>
