Watchmen Movie Review(s)

A friend of mine saw the complete version of Watchmen while in New York for New York Comic Con.

He could not tell me everything, but here is what he said:

1) Overall, he liked it
2) Acting is good, except for one female lead
3) He liked the ending
4) Suggests people not read the comic again before seeing it, as "surprises" are important to the film, BUT
5) He is not sure how people will like it, if they have never read it or never read comics, as it follows the comic very closely (except for the pirate stuff of course) and thus jumps around a lot and might be confusing
6) He is worried that this movie was supposed to "break the barriers" for comic book moives, but Dark Knight already did that, degrading some of the specialness of this kind of film a bit

Thanks for the reviews. Believe it or not, I've never read the original comic. Now I'll make sure I don't read it before the movie (although I do have the basic plot from various sites). The trailers looked awesome, but that doesn't always mean the movie will be good. I'll definitely go see it now. Thanks again.
