Waterbreathers on land

Does anyone know of any already existing items or spells which would allow a waterbreathing creature to survive an extended period on land?

Ya, see FFG's Seafarer's Hanbook. It's called Airbreathing, it's level 3 cleric, druid, and sorcerer/wizard.

Unfortunately, most waterbreathers in the MM have gills and I don't think sticking a decanter in them would work.

Also my Dm doesn't allow third party spells.

I guess I'm stuck then.

Except that for consuming not for breathing. You need a version of the one that allows you to breathe without air.

That line isn't present in the description of the item crothian - BTB, it's entirely possible for a water breathing creature to survive above water using one.
