Fight! Round 1: Therren, first to react to trouble, as he so often is, circles around the statue to the opposite side from Darian, and jabs with his short sword. The sword connects, but to Therren's dismay, it shatters into pieces with the blow! To make matters worse, the statue seems hardly the worse for wear as a result of the strike. Jarten draws and then launches a throwing axe with practiced motion. But, cautious as he is of his companions' proximity, his aim is off, and the axe sails wide. Darian hefts his mighty greatsword above his head, and brings it smashing down into the statue! It's a solid blow, sending chips of stone flying in all directions. The animated statue, tracking the one who first touched it, swings its sword at Therren. The blow is slow and cumbersome, however, and the rogue easily sidesteps to avoid harm. Aieron chants the words of an arcane spell, and launches a ray of searing flame at the statue. Lke Jarten, however, his aim is hampered by the presence of his friends, and the ray just misses over the statue's head. From across the room, Grimbold drops the mirror and launches his powerful legs into action. As he closes, he smoothly draws his greataxe, and slams into the statue with great force, hacking a large furrow into the stone. Round 2: Therren takes one quick step backward, to avoid the statue's blade, and fluidly draws his longbow, nocks, and fires! The arrow strikes hard at such close range, right in the statue's face, sending more stone chips flying. Jarten, deciding not to risk throwing more axes, draws his sword and wades into melee, bringing his longsword to bear on the statue. Alas, the strike glances off the thing's stony exterior. Darian raises his greatsword for a second strike, taking deliberate measure to put as much power as he can into the blow. His sword connects with a mighty crunch, taking a tremendous toll on the statue's integrity. Chunks of stone fall everywhere, yet the statue somehow still stands. Indeed, it turns its attention now to Grimbold, slicing with its blade, but fortunately the blow glances off the barbarian's chain shirt. Grimbold, eager to end the fight, raises his greataxe once more, and brings it home, successfully striking once more! His axe splits the statue in two, and the thing crumbles to so much powdery rubble! OOC: There you go, one Caryatid Column bites the dust, and the only casualty is Therren's short sword. Well done!
