I would even say that the D&D brand is essential for it's marketing, as the 'advanced' version of D&D5e, breaking away from that would probably have more disadvantages then advantages...I also don't know if in later books A5E moved away from the OGL, looking at Morrus's comments, I seriously doubt it.Sidenote: While A5E might get a lot of press here due to this being Morrus's hangout, in other places, the exposure is minimal. Initially A5E did very well for a 3 book KS, but later projects were less financially successful compared to something like Tales of the Valiant (but still amazing for most small indies!). And the marketing around both games was very different. As was it's intended audience, ToV is more of the same with some minor changes, while I see A5E more like the same system with more crunch layered on top. I could easily see people playing D&D5e and borrowing parts of A5E...</blockquote>
