On Fridays, we play a hybrid Star Wars/Stargate SG-1 game. The party composes SG-17, and our last mission was to locate Marduk's crashed ship (we released him and failed to kill him the first time) and terminate him. Well, we got there, only to find Marduk and his survivors (including our traitorous former CO, Captain Kaar) pinned down by a horde of rival Jaffa. Well, we got involved, taking out the Jaffa, when some more Jaffa rang down, equipped with personal energy shields. Energy weapons don't do much damage, but our current CO (Capt. Phoenix) carries slugthrowers, and I tossed a grenade, taking most of them out before the third wave rang down. These guys were some sort of super-soldiers with heroic levels, because they managed to - mostly bare-handed - take out the rest of our group. Fortunately, I survived, fatigued, and happened to be lying next to a dead Jaffa and his staff weapon. With the super-soldiers taken out, I took aim at Marduk's heavy weapons soldier and blew him away. Since I was lying amidst a pile of bodies and staves, nobody knew where the shot came from. I then aimed at Marduk (inhabiting the body of our former Specialist Chin), and blasted him. The critical hit dealt 23 energy damage straight to his wounds. Chin/Marduk was incinerated. The next shot was my last grenade, taking out the last two soldiers and wounding the enemy general. As he took off toward the Stargate, I got another shot off, and he went down. I then made the mistake of standing up (losing my +4 to Defence against ranged attacks) to confront Captain (now Colonel) Kaar. I gave her the offer of surrender, but she refused, and shot at me. Her dice didn't like her that night, because she kept missing, and I didn't. If I could've got one more shot off, I could've knocked her into wounds (forcing the customary Fort save vs. KO), but she miraculously rolled two 19's and took off my right arm at the shoulder. Fortunately, I have DR 5, so I didn't die outright. She then left (Capt. Phoenix had been knocked into negs during the fight with the super-soldiers), and Capt. Phoenix regained consciousness to get our teams' bodies (and a few staff weapons) back through the Stargate. I believe I will name that staff "Godslayer II." Capt. Phoenix had previously used a staff to kill a minor System Lord (Svarog, I believe), which I've taken to calling "Godslayer."
