We started a 2nd edition game

As some of you may know, I am pretty much the full time DM. So when an old friend decided he was going to run a game for us, I jumped at the opportunity. He showed up saturday, and three other members of my group and I created some 2nd edition characters. A human cleric, a human fighter, and 2 dwarven fighters. The guy's a good DM, and it's good to go back to my roots (I started playing dnd with 2nd edition). Everyone else seems to have really enjoyed it too. We are looking forward to the next session, which will unfortunately be a month away, and are even thinking of playing a second 2nd edition game more frequently.

The single most important thing is that you're enjoying it.

No rogues eh? How can you resist splitting up the points man? How!

heck, no mages nor bards either.

they need to hire some henchmen.

One thing about second edition (and earlier) editions is that it seems quite a bit more free-form from 3rd. But I'm not sure I would trade the character customization in 3rd for the flexibility of 2nd.

It would make it a lot easier to play Al-Qadim or Planescape, though. :)

All in all we enjoyed it, and that's what counts righ? hehe
the funniest line from the game was definately "When a dwarf asks a woman to wear a strap on, he's talking about a false beard!"

Sounds fun. I started with OD&D, but would say that most of my gaming was done during 2e.

Out of curiosity are you using kits? Is it a homebrew setting or one of the sadly gone 2e settings?

all we have is a phb and a MM. It's the DM's own home brew setting. We had one phb, but thankfully I found a couple 2nd edition phb's in my closet yesterday.
