Weapon formula

I was trying to decode the balance formula put into weapons. I have found following rules - they seem to fit most of the weapons (2 are one point lower than what is given here, making them clearly 'suboptimal', shurikens are completely strange).

Each weapon has number of points which can be spent on damage and abilities.

Simple 6
Military 7
Superior 8
Two handed +1

Costs for damage are as follows:

1d4 = 2
1d6 = 3
1d8 = 4
1d10 = 5
2d4 = 5
1d12 = 6
2d6 = 6

For each +1 prof bonus, pay 1 point

For abilities:

Versatile +0 (add some gp to cost)
Heavy Thrown +1
Light blade +1
Off-hand +1 (free for light blades)
High crit +1
Reach +1
Ranged +1
Small +1

Things which don't fit:

Club - it just plain sucks
Quarterstaff - basically two-handed club; maybe it is usable by some class which does not have access to anything else?
Shuriken - here everything breaks, how superior weapon can have same stats as simple daggers ?

Better range, and in the right hands, they do more damage (up one die iirc).
[edit]also half the weight (if you track such things) though they can't be used in melee.[/edit]

Clubs have always sucked, which is fitting for what amounts to an improvised weapon. Staves are one of the few melee weapon available to wizards. Shuriken have more range than daggers, but are mainly going to get used by rogues, who get d6 damage out of them.
