In keeping with my love for both the items of legacy and the Warlock class I humbly present the. . . Rod of Malevolent Ascendancy This light mace has the head of a laughing pit fiend as its head. While the head looks like it is laughing an almost happy a closer inspection reveals that the head is actually that of a snarling pit fiend with bloodlust in its eyes. The more one looks at the head the more real it becomes. The rest of the mace if fine oak wrapped in leather. The leather always appears warm to the touch. The end of the mace is a cold iron cap. Nonlegacy Game Stastics: +1 Light Mace, Cost: 2,305 Omen: When the Rod of Malevolent Ascendancy is held a wielder of good alignment can hear the screams of the tormented on a random level of the Abyss in their mind. Once the Greater legacy ritual is performed these screams only echo in the minds of evil aligned sentients within a 50 foot radius around the wielder. When a warlock wielding the mace fires his eldrich blast it emanates from the open mouth at the head of the mace. History (DC 15) (DC 18; Anointing of the Demon) (DC 25; Cognition of the Abyss) (DC 31; Calamity of Combustion) Legacy Rituals Three rituals are required to unlock all the abilities of the Rod of Malevolent Ascendancy Anointing of the Demon: You must anoint the rod with flammable oils and the feathers from a sacrificial dove. You do not have to kill the bird yourself, but you must stuff then into the maw at the top of the mace.
