indeed - minimal would be a template, if it is accepted. :)

largely, they would have value as familiars, so information would be provided on that as well.

I would love to see you guys do conversions of the list of special familiars waaaay back in about Dragon 86 or so. When I have access to my dragon Magazine archive CDs, I'll post the exact issue number. I think the article was titled something like "A Cast of New Familiars"... ;)

There were some strange familiars in Birthright: The Book of Magecraft

I would like to see more Gamma World 3rd edition Mutants converted over to D&D rules, especially many of the creatures in the Alpha - Epsilon adventures. There were several designed to be mounts and animal companions.

I had the issue right (#86), but the title was actually "Familiars With A Special Use".

The familiars were bacially options to the quasit, imp, brownie and pseudo dragon as "special" familiars (or Improved Familiars in todays money)...

They are:

Teleperan (LG)
Glissan (NG)
Baltir (CG)
Tabur (LN)
Orrek (N)
Quark (CN)
Nalg (NE)
Durocib (NE)
Haudhla (N)
Veeru (CN, CG or CE)

I've had fun with these guys (see! I'll use planar stuff from 1e too!). I changed their appearance a tad, and recast them as yugoloth equivalents of imps and quasits, though more yugoloth construct (like guardian yugoloths) than a true part of the 'loth heirarchy. I had a few of them handed out as familiars (and keepers) to wizards dealing with the 'loths in my last campaign.

I had one always perched on the shoulder of Rammander the Wise in Sigil. The thing was a lovely j@ckass of a creature, and I'm not sure who the PCs hated more, it or the wizard. It ended poorly for both Rammander and his little 'bottle of snarl' of a familiar though.

I really should write up my version of these guys at some point. And get art from my art slave. Mu-ha.
