I know it's kinda bad form to toot my own horn here, but since you asked... (And since I've been dying to tell the world!) ;) I've finally finsihed writing the 'core' Vikings D20 book. It will be published (as a PDF for starters) by the TheLe Games, in the not too distant future. This first book will be some 230+ pages; containing all new base classes and prestige classes, a spellpoint based runic magic system, loads of Scandinavian monsters, a chapter on running Vikings campaigns, and of course extensive information of the Vikings' religion and cosmology. The setting is assumed to be our world, as the Vikings believed it to be. There are extensive descriptions of their weapons and other equipment, longships, journeys, combat styles and tactics, culture, laws, government and history. Absolutely everything in the book is based on real world Viking history or mythology. I used to think I knew a lot about the Vikings and their beliefs; being born and raised smack in the middle of historically important Viking territory and everything. A lot more than the average Norwegian, anyway! However, after two years of studying history, geography, mythology and Scandinavian folklore, I know realize how little I knew when I started this. The good news is that during these studies, I've made extensive notes for the follow-up books, so writing those shouldn't take me anywhere near as long as the first one has. Books number 2 and 3 are practically done already, since they largely consist of material that was cut from book 1 for size reasons. (Scoop: Book 2 will be an expansion of the runic magic system, and book 3 will be about giants!) Many more books are being planned though, and also adventure modules. If anyone has any question, feel free to mail me at: vsolaas@gmail.com :)
