Use of Epic Level Handbook We have used Epic Level Rules since 3.0 originally came out. There were "Beta Epic Level Rules" on the net - the same ones that are in the First Forgotten Realms Campaign Book. We had a campaign go from first to the mid-forties - (yes, I know what you are thinking) (keep in mind our campaigns are combat heavy and are very fast paced). When the Epic Level Handbook came out we converted our characters. My 2 friends - one of which is the Munchkin (Min-Maxing) King - could not easliy convert his character to the new ruleset and keep the same feel. Min-Maxing can be, like all things, good in moderation... Anyhow, the rules have worked well. The feats are good, and the scalability of skills works well - albeit, some skills scale better than others... The monsters are pretty cool... I think my favorites are the Epic Dragons. The Epic Spell system is quite unwieldy - creating a epic spell takes too much work. I have done it once and my head still hurts. I think the mechanic itself works ok - it does require a little too much intense understanding of how the designers put the system together - understanding the game mechanics behind certain things for balance and so on. It has been quite awhile since we have played that campaign - so I am writing this from what I remember. Our DM Rocks- he is the Schnizzle - It is combat and story intense - we have a lot of rolplaying and the things that we do effects the game world. He is easily able to handle the complexity of Epic DM'ing as he is an DM of Epic Proportions.... I will stop now...
