I'm gonna include Freeport in my campaign world, and I was wondering what books would be useful to get ahold of for reference. Any help is appreciated.
I am really very happy with my "Denizens of Freeport" NPC book purchase. This book can really help you fill in some blanks for PC interaction. Most of the NPC's are very well written and original... A great compliment to the Core Freeport hardcover...
For adding Freeport to an established campaign, I do not think you absolutely need the series of adventures. There is some stuff in them that is not duplicated in the City book, but not a whole lot.
Ah. Thanks for the replies you two, especially the one about the adventure series. I might pick them up later anyway, but for right now, I think I'll be more than satisfied with Denizens of Freeport and the Freeport City Book.
Of the adventures, the best (I thought) for source material is probably Madness in Freeport. Part of the adventure is set in a ball for the bigwigs of the city, so you get pretty good info on them.
Hell in Freeport is probably worth a miss, as despite the name, it's not really set in Freeport per se. (Good if you want a adventure in hell, though)
If you want more city than you can possibly know what to do with, I'd suggest the following:
Bluffside: City on the Edge - not related to Freeport in any way, shape or form, but the two absolutely complement each other in a number of ways. Bluffside also has a pirate section, which fits in well with Freeport.
Obviously, the Freeport Sourcebook
Foul Locales: Urban Blight - great urban based mini adventures.
Freeport - City of Adventure is really good city-book. Denizens of Freeport is interesting, but if you are in habit of doing your own npc:s, it's not so much worth the money.
Hell in Freeport is best adventure I've ever played. Hehe, but it's high-level one.
Much of this post is just repeating what has been said above...
Freeport City Book and The Denizens of Freeport are two most needed. While you could live without Denizens it is packed with come interesting background and plot ideas.
