What companies are in the mini-making biz?

Who are the miniature makers? I know about Reaper, and Games Workshop, but what are some other manufacturers?

I saw Confrontation in Dragon magazine, but with their Web site in French, I can't tell if they make minis or a game.

What happened to Ral Partha and Grenadier?

What happened to Ral Partha and Grenadier?

AFAIK, Ral Partha and Grenadier both went out of business years ago. (though i think another company is making RP minis again.)

Not a complete list and has many painting guides and other stuff. To see what's out, I'd recommend going to New Wave online, looking around, and getting the stuff from another company.

I just want to restate what he said. DO NOT BUY FROM NEW WAVE. They are a very poor company with worse customer service.


Also Game-Workshop, as some of their fantasy SC make great character miniatures. Do note that they cost more than most.

'Cost more than most' does not adequetly describe Games Workshop minis.
More like some form of pewterized Crack. They pull you in with delicately created minis that are very, very cool looking and then WHAM! you get slammed over the head by their accountants who go 'That mini of Elrond is $24! Hahaha, buy that you pasty bastard!' They then proceed to beat you to death with their shovels, but there's no escaping. That Elrond mini is sooo cool, but those shovels hurt so much. In the end, love over the precious Elrond mini will win out over the love of your corporeal body.
So really, those Games Workshop minis will truly end up costing you an arm and a leg.
