Astonished so many people thought Far From Home was good, I'm going to put it down to people being unsure if it was No Way Home, which was actually great, so they just voted for both. Far From Home was absolute drivel with one good scene and unfortunately demonstrated Holland's limitations as an actor, esp. up against Zendaya (very surprised but girl can act). No Way Home rocked and finally got Holland's Spider-Man into "actual Spider-Man" territory (whereas before he always seemed more like Iron Man Jr). Shang-Chi was the only other one I'd actually call "good". The rest were middling at best. Particularly disappointed by Wakanda, because it had great visual design, a great cast, some cool ideas (revised Namor was great), and strong performances but a very weak throughline, terrible action sequences (oh my god the fight on the ship was absolutely cringeworthy - it felt like something from a bad stage-play), and a bland and vague "I guess we're all fine then" resolution to the conflict. The Eternals was the most boring movie I've seen in years. Astonishing in the worst possible way. No chemistry between any of the characters/actors, either. That has to be on the director to some extent. Thor: Love & Thunder was just really lazy, self-indulgent, and yet somehow also cut to pieces. I mean, I agree with this but... We got a movie that had been severely edited. Like chunks of the film were missing Simpsons [SCENE DELETED]-style. So I don't think it's just Taika's big head, I think it's that + Marvel making bad decisions. Also, frankly, the stuff with cancer was crap, and I say that was someone with close family members who have had cancer. It was bad on multiple levels. When Archer, a gonzo drunk spy comedy manages to handle a cancer storyline 50x better than you do, in every way (honesty, subtlety, relevance, showing actual empathy and so on), you know you messed up. Sad because it had brief moments when it was Ragnarok-levels of good and then immediately dumped them.
