My point of him flying was more a response to Winternights post about his group killing him with the Paladins charge. A flying creature gets the drop on people but he's tooling around on the ground so any Tom, Dick or Rolf can charge him? Why use this villian? Becuase its KEWL! thats why! Every group wants a cool villian to go up against. It just makes for a grander experience, and story. If thats what you want than go for it. Its your game, feel free to use and abuse the campaign setting in anyway you want. I threw out half the changes they made in 3E to FR because they were just plain silly to me (Thayan Embassey? Wha? Unilateral expansion? with enemy countries? sure...right...whatever.) So do what you gotta do my friend, if your players are strict by the book FR fans and they know all the ins and outs and will instantly recongnize the creature for what it is and that ruins the story for them then dont include it, but if they dont know or dont care and will think its KEWL than include it. I'll restate that I think its too strong for them to face. As well as his lair would never be underground or a confining space due to that negating a strong natural ability and advantage. I also like building villians off a theme or motif. I design bad guys to illustrate to my players just what they can do if they find the rules to back them up. For example I threw a Sundering expert at my group, they faced her a couple times and they were all gunning for her. They had special weapons constructed to help them out too. They were really relieved when they beat her. anyhow
