What do you want to see in D20 Dragonlance?

What exactly do you want out of the Dragonlance setting that is forthcoming from Weis/Hickman/Wotc?

I want a magic system that is fully compatible with DnD.
I don't want to see any AC bonuses per level in classes like in Star Wars and Wheel of Time.

I would like to see stats on all the major characters from the books. Stats and domains of all the gods, minotaur, Irda & 1/2 ogre character races.

Something really cool done with the Knight classes. No restrictions on mage characters on what spells they can learn.

Not to mention awesome artwork, detailed cartography and a timeline. History and insight to Krynn, the races, wars and the major characters of the Dragonlance saga.

All of this and the ability to be able to choose what timeframe to set your campaign in. Like the D20 Star Wars

Basically what you said, but with an extra emphasis on stats. I *really* want to know just what kind of power Raistlin had, in game mechanics-speak. :)

Thats nice thiel.

Anyhow.

Myself, I would actualy NOT want to see the restrictions on caster spells lists... that was always part of the flavor of the setting, IMO.

Gods. It's what destroyed any feeling had for the setting when they were tossed out the window.

Course what I'd do, is kind of restart, have the Titans come in, along with the Slarecians and start it ALL over it again! :D :p

How about Kendertaurs - half bull, half kender?

Seriously, I'd like for them to kind of just ignore the 5th age and all that. I recently borrowed a new-ish Dragonlance book from the library and I was completely baffled by the changes in DL. (Not liking AD&D 2E or Saga, I completely gave 90s DL stuff a pass completely).

Probably won't happen, but it would be nice. Kind of like how Gurps Traveller ignored all the stupid universe wrecking GDW did (and which ended up alienating fans, and ultimately driving GDW out of business)

i would like to see a class that replaces the sorceror and the mage, kind of halfway between the two, that to me summs up dragonlance magic's feel quite well, mages are born, and then taught the rules of magic, then tested to see if they can handle it. if they are going to restrict the spells that a mage can learn, i hope they will at least throw them some minor bone to make up for it.

I would like to see character background have a little more effect on class skills (based on region ie plainsmen all get wilderness lore as a class skill, that sort of thing with every region having it's own niche in the world).

it is my dream that this all ends with the 5th age never having happened, the time after the chaos war could make a sweet setting if the gods were there. however, milti timeframe is nessisary. if not in the main book, perhaps a book specifically for playing in the various ages of krynn. that would be nice. many want only to play in between chronicles and DoSF

I allways assumed that the "magic" raistlin was refering to at the end of dragons of summer flame was in fact science, i want insane gnomish inventions that could rival the wizards of krynn if only they would work correctly.

one thing i have heard mention of is the serious side of tasselhoff, i have never liked how other kender have been portrayed by alot of DL authors, they are childlike in some ways but that doesn't mean that they are incapable of realising that some situations are serious. kender became parodies of themselves, alot of the descriptions of kender were written from the perspective of humans and people have assumed that what was written were true. ie that kender are in fact all insane and bent on destroying themselves in an irrational manner, they are stupid, their curiosity deprives them completley of any sense of self preservation and many other untruths about kender. I want playable kender darnit. curious but not idiotic.

as a dragonlance hardcore fan, really all i want is something, if every review i ever saw was a bad one, i would still buy the books. I hope this blind loyalty to dragonlance will be rewarded not shoved in my face as a reason to stop buying books based on previous work by the publisher/author.

if this book is not good, my days of playing in someone elses setting are officially over.

Hmmm

I´d love to see them bring DL back to the flair it held when the adventure started. Doesn´t mean they need to ignore/undo what happened between...but please, repair the damage done to Krynn and Dragonlance.

Another thing I´d love to see would be more detailed geographical and political descriptions about the whole of Krynn and Taladas. It´s a great chance to fully integrate Krynn and Taladas into one mold, and do it so it feels right, too...the first try wasn´t too great, for my taste.

A chance to play in any Age would be nice, too. Okay, I admit, it´d be too much for one book to cover all ages in detail, but just enough to get a feel for the different Ages...that´d be great. Or kind of follow-up products that focus on a single Age each. :)

A little difference in the Gods would be great, too, like Branchala sponsoring Bards, for example...would make them independent from the Towers. Monks and Psionicists as followers of Majere (come on, don´t tell me you don´t think Majere would make a great patron for Psions ;) ). Just so...not every God/dess has clerics of Good/Neutrality/Evil. Some...variety would be nice :)

Totally de-moronizing the infamous Silly Midget Trio (kender halfling, tinker gnomes and gully dwarves). Why are Weis and Hickman so heinous of the little folks they did commit such a crime toward them ? Creating a whole race for comic relief reason is bad. Part of why SW fans were so disappointed with Episode I is the Gungans. They can't change radically the background, but if they alter it just enough so that Kenders, Tinkers and Gullies can be as respectable and respected than ay other race rather than being so unviable and silly...
