I first saw this abbreviation commonly used on usenet and certain mailing lists back in the early-mid 90s, before most folks reading this board had web access.
The standard definition is Friendly Local Gaming Store, but alternates such as Favorite or, um.., F'ing can be used to color the context.![]()

I would say 40% of the time I went to a store I would usually get a "weird Pete" kind of owner to deal with. I'm sure to this day many still do.
