It has everything to do with DnD!

While my fiance and I were in Minneapolis, we decided to visit a WOTC store. I had never seen one and wanted to check it out. They had one shelf of DnD 3.5 books! The entire rest of the store was filled with Hasbro toys and games!

They own them. Seriously, why wouldn't they? It's common for corporations with multiple companies to "leverage" their brand like this. I'm not saying it's right, just that it's not surprising.

just look at the Chia pets or whatever they are called on the WotC site.

I'll go so far as to say this is smart business. After all, haven't the majority of D&D fans been enjoying the Lord of the Rings movies? People have been complaining about WotC's / Hasbro's lack of cross-marketing - well HERE IT IS!

well some might be. but some of us purists think the LotR movies aren't that good.

Dungeons & Dragons -of any version- would never have existed if there wasn't an orc fight in Moria. So yeah, LOTR has got something to do with D&D.
