Though not fantasy, and not much different from previous D&D, I have a soft spot in my heart for Star Frontiers. And I played GURPS for the first time during some down time at GenCon SoCal, loved it; I think that had more to do with the GM (Paul Tervis, I believe) than the system, but from what I saw the mechanics were pretty smooth and, of course, versatile. The system seemed wonderfully transparent, such that my character could do what I wanted him to do with a minimum of rules details required.
