What happens when you "identify" the glowing alter or magic room?

I tend not to use such cursed items in my game. If I thought some NPC would create a cursed item, they could certainly find a way to foil a 1st level divination spell and so identify would give false information anyway.
IIRC there is only 5% or something for an identify to actually reveal the curse on a cursed item.

An identify spell only has a 1% chance per caster level to reveal a cursed item’s true properties, including the cursed aspect. Analyze dweomer reveals the true nature of a cursed item.

From the SRD... good point... I never noticed that clause before.

I've allowed such useage of the identify spell. I've had a party of PCs go through a crypt with a wand of detect magic active almost continuously with a couple of identify spells ready to further investigate the things they thought were not obvious. A couple of magic traps were bypassed elsewise and a couple were bypassed through use of the spells and brain power. It was a trap-heavy crypt and they knew it was going to be based on some in-town investigation. They came well prepared.
