(No Spoilers Here!)</p><p></p><p>This sounds like the type of encounter where, if the PC's are clever enough, they will overcome the thingie and find something really nice beyond it for their trouble.</p><p></p><p>I have been known to put something like that in my adventures before; The players KNOW what's going to happen, yet curiosity just kills them - literally, in the case of the characters.
