What is MISSING from the SRD?

Jürgen Hubert

First Post
I just had a look at the SRD, and there are some huge lists. But I think, at least from the POV of a publisher, it's not only important what's in it, but also what isn't in it - and listing the latter might be easier since it's less.

Has anyone started to compile a list of all the stuff from the three Core Rules that isn't in the SRD? I've already noticed that the yuan-ti and the mind flayers aren't in it (unsurprisingly, since they weren't in the 3.X SRD either), but what else is missing?

There's definitely some surprises in the Monster Manual side of things:

Missing monsters, should folks care...

Beholders
Displacer beasts
Githyanki
Githzerai
Mind flayer
Sahuagin

Carrion crawlers are available now.

Updated as I find more...

Edit:
Add to the list -
Cambion
Demons (entry exists, but no specific critters allowed)
Devil (entry exists, but no specific critters allowed)
Drow (holy crap!)
Flameskull
Hook horror
Kruthik
Kuo-Toa
Ooze (entry exists, but no specific creature allowed)
This means no ochre jellies or gelatinous cubes
Oytugh
Owlbear (are they kidding?)
Shadar-Kai (no shock)
Shifter
Slaad
Spider (demonweb terror only)
Umber hulk
Warforged
Yuan-Ti
Enjoy!

Oh, and Drow Poison is ok to use, but not the Drow themselves. So you can use the poison, but no one knows where it comes from. Brilliant move to make the drow mysterious once again! ;)

Haven't seen any lists for the other books yets.

Did anyone notice anything in the SRD that could possibly be considered some of the material they added in advance of their upcoming products? I know Scott specifically mentioned support for Psionics as something that would have been cut if the GSL & SRD were released last week before the decision to add references for upcoming material.

They can't claim "ownership" of most of it.

But, maybe, they can exclude it as part of the license.

However, does the GSL or SRD actually exclude specific terms not listed there? The SRD says: "you may not reproduce any running text, statistics block, or table from
the Core Rulebooks". That not exactly the same as "any noun", is it?

Orcus is a mythological creature. WoTC can't claim ownership of it.

They cannot lay claim to the name. They can lay claim to their implementation and esxpression. So you can name Orcus all you like, but you can't talk about him having WotC's particular stats, or having the particular relationships to other things in the world that are also WotC-specific.
