What is the most fun to play in, to DM (with a wealth of detail and arcane lore, etc), and to read about? And why?I think we can be flexible about the definition of "region," but it should be big enough that a whole campaign (level 1-20) could be run in it, but not continental in size...maybe roughly 500 x 500 miles or smaller. But again, there is no sharp definition.I can't personally narrow it down, but the North of the Forgotten Realms is up there. It seems to have a bit of everything, with both a distinct theme and qualities, but also a diversity of locations, from Waterdeep to Anauroch.On other side of Anauroch, the Dalelands-Moonsea region is also rather iconic.In Greyhawk, you can't do much better than the Greyhawk region itself, from the Wild Coast to the southwest, the Bright Desert to the southeast, the Mistmarsh, etc.</blockquote>
