Great book series, bad campaign setting. I loved Planescape, I thought it was very imaginative, but damned if I could find people who actually wanted to play it. Explaining Planescape to the average gamer yielded blank stares of incomprehension, and it took a long time just to cover the basics. Nobody "got it." I never played Spelljammer, Dark Sun, or Birthright more than one session, so I never got a feel for those games, but then again I wasn't dying to play them either. They seemed cool though. Forgotten Realms annoyed me because of its inherent munchkinism, and Greyhawk seemed boring, not to mention the names of half the places were stupid. The Duchy of Geoff? Jeff? Hello? Was this invented by a DM in junior high?Kalamar looked great, but some of the names look like they came out of a random name generator, and a bad one at that.
