Tolkien's like- Bob Dylan. Or, if you insist on a Beatles ref for Tolkien, then Moorcock is the Sex Pistols. I don't think you realize quite how much of the swords and sorcery and sci-fi genres were influenced by Moorcock, clearly. Hell, the whole "anti-hero" concept (as opposed to the more traditional heroic journeys of Tolkien) is arguably creditable more to Moorcock than anyone (yes, I said arguably).</blockquote>
