So I've been pondering what my next 4e project should be and I wanted to see what ENWorlders would like to see for 4e. My first project, the Auxiliary martial controller class is now in playtesting and I'm still waiting on the next GSL FAQ before starting another project... which of course means I've got a bit of free time and I'm looking to fill it up with a 4e side project. So in Round 1 I asked the good folk here to come up with proposals for my next 4e Project and the following are the ten that most interested me: Proposals So Far (in Alphabetical Order): 1) Adventurer's Almanac Book (Points of Light): Using the 4e assumed campaign setting create a year's worth of adventuring seeds along with useful advice, topics of interest, a calendar of social, political, and astronomical events, holidays, a who's who, and perhaps some fake advertisements (including new equipment, alchemical material, etc.) 2) Detailed Organization Book: Design a cult or organization, which covers a wide expanse of levels, from the lowly ranks straight up to the leader(s). It would be chock full with new monsters, rituals, and magic items used by them as well. Lastly, the fluff would revolve around the organization and what their plans, intentions and origins are. 3) Fantasy Backdrop Book: Design generic and unique adventure locations for use in any campaign (rope bridges, volcanic cavern, etc.). 4) MacGuffin Item Book: Design a MacGuffin (a plot device that motivates the characters or advances the story, but the details of which are of little or no importance otherwise) device or object which could lead a party of adventurers through a series of quests (Example: The Book of secrets mentioned in post #7.). 5) Monster Design Book: Design new monsters for use with the 4e rules including crunchy statblocks and fluffy back stories (book of new aberrant, elemental, fey, etc. creatures). 6) Monster Fluff Book: Flesh out the stories and ideas of some of the monsters in the Monster Manual (Where do cyclopses, grimlocks, salamanders, etc fit into the “points of light setting” and what’s their back story). 7) “Points of Light” Mini-SettingBook: Design a mini-setting that takes the core assumptions of 4e, asks “what if this was real?” and then uses the answers to construct a narrative for the world that fits with 4e’s concepts (power sources, healing surges, encounter/daily powers, etc.). Which brings us to: Round 2 (From Monday July 28 to midnight Monday August 4): 1) I have compiled a list of the top 10 proposals (two from my own musings over the last week). 2) Everyone votes for the 4e projects they'd like to see me design. This is multiple choice so you can choose all, some, or none. 3) The voting will go until midnight Monday, August 4. At that time I'll tally up the votes and pick one of the top three vote getters as my next 4e project and keep the other ones in mind for future reference.
