So I'm in the process of putting together a major NPC for the party, one I want them to remember and one who may have future involvement with them. I personally use the following list to build out an NPC enough that I can get them into the story, describe them well, and act them out during roleplaying. What sort of notes do you keep on an NPC? Name: Elma Longbarrow Actor / Actress who the NPC most resembles (example, Kathy Bates in Six Feet Under) Appearance: large woman, red hair and red cheeks, dark piercing eyes, wears a green dress and a stained apron muddy at the seams. Always has one of her seven kids in tow. Motivation: Wants a nice status quo for her town and her family. Wants a quiet life but seems to always be the loudest voice. Background: Grew up in the hard lands on the border of the Trollhaunt. Has had many friends and a few of her fourteen siblings killed in the swamps. Got married at fourteen but has remained faithful if not loving in a partnership with an older weaker man who lets her strong personality thrive. Conversational DCs: (assumes level 12 PCs) Bluff (she succombs to flattery): 10 Diplomacy (she likes polite people): 10 Intimidate (she's not used to people pushing her around: 14 Street Wise (she doesn't like gutter talk): 21 Then I usually stick a picture pulled from the Wizards gallaries to give the players a handout. So what sort of NPC notes do you guys keep?
