A "Ghost Rider" film script has been floating around for a few years now. It originally was going to star Johnny Depp, then Nicholas Cage, and the name I heard most recently was Keifer Southerland. The original comic ran from 1973 to 1983 and ran for 81 issues. It was about a Hollywood stunt man named Johnny Blaze who could transform into a supernatural flame-headed demon that shot hellfire from his hands. In the final issue the two became separated and the demon died. In 1990 they began another series that became extremely popular, running until 1998 for 93 regular issues, 2 annuals, and several team-up specials. The concept was simlar to the first series, except the main character was a teenage boy and the demon was made more dark and powerful. At the height of the series popularity they simultaneously did a 22-issue series called "Spirits of Vengence", with the new Ghost Rider teaming up with Johnny Blaze. There was recently a 4-issue Ghost Rider mini-series, but I did not pick it up so am not sure if it is the same character or a new one. Marvel has also put out two other Ghost Rider comics, one was a western that ran for 7 issues back in 1967; the other was set in their year 2099 Marvel Universe, and ran for 25 issues from 1994 to 1996. There was also a 30th century version of the character in the Guardians of the Galaxy series. All versions of the character (except the western) rode on flaming motorcycles.
