Well, this is what I have so far. I'm beginning to really like the idea of this island. :) There are different groups of Halflings. One group is in the trees and they ride some sort of brachiating mount or perhaps flying squirrels [I'll know better once I get stats of a creature I wish to use]. However, within the forest are trees which have been bound to the ground. These treants have lost the ability to move, but they strike any who approach them. This group of halflings knows where the treants are and avoids them. Another group of Halflings are the horsebreaders of island. Their horses are of the finest quality. The only problem for those off the island are that the horses are sized for Small riders and not Medium, though Chigo has little problem with this. There is a faction of this group attempting to breed larger horses. [Chigo is a nation near this island whose population mains consists of Kobolds and Svirfneblin]. A third group of Halflings are the fierce warrior type Halflings. They raid the other groups occasionally, keeping them on their toes, and take what they need and can't hunt for. Mainly, this group is the one that raids the mainland, though not their allies from Chigo. Along with the arts of war, they are fairly proficient sailors as well. There is a group of Wild Elves who are strange in behavior. None of the Halflings know where these Elves live, but some believe they live inside the Treants, or below them. Those same Halflings also believe that they have done something to the Treants to tie them to the ground and they cannot harm the Elves, which is why they strike out at any living creature which nears them. What is strange about their behavior is that they effectively hibernate during the winter. Why, none of the Halflings know. But they do know that in the spring, when the Elves awaken, the Elves are hungry and they attack the Halflings. When spring comes and through the summer, the Halflings put aside their differences and gather together to be able to fend off the attacks from the Wild Elves as the Elves continuously raid and steal during the warm season. Oh, the Wild Elves are just an idea, though I might modify them because I like the idea of the Predator thing. It makes them more dangerous and gives the Halflings more of a reason to band together during the warm months. [Or I might come up with a different race if something else strikes me]
