Backstory. The PC were sent to the realm of slaughter (Toshigoku, for those keeping trasck at home) to recover and artifact of a fallen god. The realm of slaughter is a place Rokugani souls go when they have commited too many atrocities for them to be allowed to reincarnate. The artifact is in the position of Hantei XVI, the Steel Crysanthemum. No former emperor of the Emerald Empire was more feared and hated. And just 15 years ago when he returned from the dead he led a civil war that nearly tore the empire apart, killing thousands and thousands. At that time he was opposing Toturi I, who's dynasty had taken over for the Hantei. Now the Emperor is dead and the Empire is split between his children, each heading a faction declaring them emperor. And the group found Hantei the XVI. He was agreeable to them taking the mirror, as long as they took him as well. A bit to my surprise, some of the group waffled. One was favoring taking him back right away. Another couple are seeing ways they could benefit from it as well. Before they could decide anything, the cleric handling their planeshifting grabbed the mirror and planeshifted out with the group. While Hantei XVI was holding onto the mirror as well. The mirror is linked to Hantei XVI, which allowed it to follow him to Toshigoku. The question now becomes, the group planeshifts out. They can take the mirror with them, there is no doubt of this. But would Hantei XVI come with them? Or, more to the point, would it be unreasonable to say he comes along with them? He's certainly a willing target and wants very badly to return to the Empire. From the story point of view, it would be great fun. But I don't want to do anything that's totally unreasonable in terms of the rules.
