Hey CRGreathouse - excellent ideas. Almost sorry I did not give your post a look before I started him. This is how I made him already. I used the exact ability scores that you assigned :). I decided however to go with Rogue2/Wizard1 and shoot for the Arcane Trickster with 3 levels of rogue, 5 levels of wizard, 1 level in assassin, and the rest in AT. I appreciate all of the suggestions. Here is his final stats Character, male drow Rog3: CR 3; ECL 5; Medium-size Humanoid (elf); HD 2d6+1d4+6; hp 22(actually rolled max); Init +4; Spd 30 ft; AC 14 (+4 Dex); Melee rapier +2 (1d6+1/crit 18-20), sap +2 (1d6/crit x2); Ranged light crossbow +5 (1d8+1/crit 19-20/x2)SA sneak attack: +1d6, spells, spell-like abilities; SQ +2 Will save vs. spells or spell-like abilities, +2 save vs. enchantment spells or spell like effects, darkvision 120 ft, evasion, light blindness, spells, SR 14, CN; SV Fort +2, Ref +7, Will +3; Str 13, Dex 18, Con 14, Int 20, Wis 14, Cha 9. Skills and Feats: Bluff +4, Climb +8, Decipher Script +10, Disable Device +10, Disguise +3, Escape Artist +9, Hide +22, Intimidate +3, Jump +8, Knowledge(arcana) +9, Listen +10, Move Silently +12, Spellcraft +8, Spot +10, Tumble +9; Point Blank Shot, Stealth. Languages: undercommon, common, elven, duegar, draconic +2 (undecided). SA–Sneak Attack (Ex): Character deals +1d6 damage against an opponent with a discernable anatomy who is denied a Dex bonus or is flanked. Spells: light, mage hand, detect magic, shield, true strike, expeditious retreat. Equipment: rapier, light crossbow, bolts (40), sap, thieves' tools, grappling hook with 60 feet of silk rope, greater pwafwawi, potion of cure light wounds x 3, potion of sneaking, spellbook: all PHB 0th, shield, mage armor, true strike, charm person , sleep, shyocking grasp, color spray, expeditious retreat. The stealth feat was at the suggestion of RogueJK. Thanks for everyone's feedback. btw - to let you know how things fared for our friend the drow assassin mage (his official title from now on :)) I will let you know what happened his first session.
