what to expect?

Legend
I'm trying to understand how 4e classes are structured. Perhaps there's not enough information, but I'm wondering...Is something like this what you are expecting?

Fighter
HP: d10
Saves: Fortitude good
Combat: +3 start, +1 each level gained
Skills: 4 + INT trained/ 4 + INT points each level gained

1- character style choice (e.g. 2-weapon, sword & board, etc), class abilities
2- talent tree #1
3- class ability #1
4-
5- talent tree #2
6- class ability #2
7-
8- talent tree #3
9- class ability #3
10-
11- talent tree #4, choose paragon path (gaining unique abilities each level 11-20)
12- class ability #4
13-
14- talent tree #5
15- class ability #5
16-
17- talent tree #6
18- class ability #6
19-
20- talent tree #7
21- class ability #7, choose epic destiny (gaining unique abilities each level 21-30)
22-
23- talent tree #8
24- class ability #8
25-
26- talent tree #9
27- class ability #9
28-
29- talent tree #10
30- class ability #10, acheive destiny

They've explicitly never said talent trees were coming. I'd replace those entries with racial abilities instead.

How does one 'explicitly never say' something? Not being snide, I just don't understand what you are saying.

Also, a character is supposed to get something new every level. I think it alternates between feats and talents.

Third, attack bonus and saves will be a unified progression (+1 per 2 levels) so I think each class will have a flat one time adjustment.

Skill points are almost certainly gone. I wonder if HPs will be rolled in the same way...We might see a fixed amount or a small random variation, like in Iron Heroes (all classes roll a d4 add different bonuses depending on the class).

We also know that there are no saves, rather there are 4 defenses (AC, Ref, Fort, Will) which will all gain a 1/2 level bonus regardless of class (as will BAB). I think some of those discretionary abilities that you're suggesting will give options for a +3 to AC or +3 to Will or +3 to BAB.

This is the second instance today I've seen you state that racial abilities improve with character advancement. In Races & Classes, and perhaps in a Design & Development article, they've stated that racial ability progression is reserved for feats.

Also, while they've never 'explicitly' said - or said at all, for that matter - that 4E features talent trees, their presence in SAGA edition suggests the possibility. I will say, however, that some overstate that possibility.

I own R&C and I missed that. Do you have a citation? I read it over the holidays, so my darn family could have made me miss it. :p

Paraphrasing:

"Are you doing talent trees?"

"Well, we're doing stuff."

OK, so when questioned about talent trees, they gave a nebulous answer that does not confirm or deny them specifically but leaves room for the reader to infer something like them.

Thanks for the clarification!
