What Type does a Simulacrum have?

Short story - I made a Simulacrum of my elven PC in a far-reaching plan that, well, overreached. An NPC cast Charm Monster on "El Cim" and, even though we knew it would work, that brought up the question.

I assume it's the same as the base creature but I'm not sure.

Not clearly specified in RAW. Most run under the (reasonable) assumption that it's the same type as the base creature, due to the "duplicate creature" bit under the effect line, and that there's nothing that says "Construct" or any such.

It's an illusionary copy made of ice and snow, given a faux life. I'd treat it like a lesser golem for the most part, but with no real subtype.

Basically, it's frosty the snowman (i.e., a snow golem) with a disguise self cast on top of it.

EDIT: As a side note, I've seen some people use the % copy value from the spell as the % chance a spell that would affect the original would also affect the simulacrum.

I found this here:

The simulacrum spell creates a duplicate of some other creature and the duplicate has the same creature type as the original.

That seems like a DM interpretation but a fair one. I'll tell the DM about it so she can make her final call.

I think that's as close to an official ruling on the subject as you're going to find.
