What were the names of the characters on the '81 BDD & EDD boxed set covers?

It seems that Morgan comes to mind for some reason...

Erl would know right?

AFAIK, they don't have names. That was well before the concept of "iconic characters" became part of D&D branding.

Morgan Ironwulf was the sample character in the BD&D rulebook.

I'm not sure that they *had* names.

In the Basic rulebook in that set, the example character is "Morgan Ironwolf", which might be what you were thinking of. With that description, there was an illustration of a quite buxom blonde, with skintight chainmail (!), drawn by Jeff Dee.

Blonde? The illo was black and white. That woman's hair looked like it should have been red, not blonde.
