[QUOTE="aco175, post: 6984239, member: 27385"] I may argue that a demon with enough power to animate and control a dead character away from his god should not be fighting 2nd level characters in the first place. There could be some instances where PCs encounter the BBEG early in their career and need to run away or be rescued only to return later when they can defeat the evil. There could also be a situation where the paladin bravely stands toe to toe with the evil, sacrificing himself to save his fellow party members. If the players died from their own actions or stupidity, then they should remain dead and their bodies animated for future use. If you as the DM set them up to die, then just roll up new characters and move on unless you plan to use the dead character as motivation for the next group that plays. If I had a large amount of game set up and the party died like this I may have the new party start where they enter the temple at the last moments of the last fight and see the demon and other bad guys destroying the other party. They should have some background on the other party as being an up and coming group in town and relize that they should run away, save you need to have another entrance where the 3rd group starts play witnessing the original group dying and another adventuring party rush in to be destroyed as well.
