• NOW LIVE! Into the Woods--new character species, eerie monsters, and haunting villains to populate the woodlands of your D&D games.

What would you do with a windfall?

$50K, in order of priority;

1.) Put some away for college next year.

2.) Get all those useful things that I need (car, forge tools and supplies, and a better desk setup for my computer).

3.) Get fun things (computer stuff, gaming stuff, swords, armor, and so forth).

4.) Invest what remains, constantly skimming off profits to pay for new stuff.

$25M, in order of priority;

1.) Get a patch of land in an isolated part of the world, and build myself a small castle...well, a keep, really, with a curtain wall if I got the land for cheap enough.

2.) Fill said castle with all sorts of fun things.

3.) Go to college.

4.) Invest what remains.

$1B, in order of priority;

1.) Same as above, but make it a big castle, to be used as a college, with ample room.

2.) Start an international school for medieval studies (including western martial arts); get good professors. I'd be a student, of course.

3.) Support all sorts of causes that I believe in.

4.) Be one of the first 'outsiders' to run for a public office?

$100T

1.) Buy an equatorial island, and make it my own sovereign nation.

2.) Start my own space program.

3.) Put huge amounts (on the order of $25T) of money into the research of 'new' physics, like zero-point energy and so on.

4.) Try to non-violently put a new world order in place, by spreading knowledge on a grand scale. Either than, or colonize mars.

Pay off bills and then go back into debt to send my wife to Nursing school, oh, hell maybe go myself.

Pay off bills and then go back into debt to send my wife to Nursing school, oh, hell maybe go myself- nah, I think I would go for sure.

Yeah, you always hear about the ones who doubled their money in 5 years, but the people who lose their shirts don't speak loudly. ;)

I think you need to check the price of houses in the area of Monterey County, CA from '93 until '04.

Housing prices have tripled in just 11 yrs. More so in Santa Cruz.

I think you need to think about what I said a little more.

Say, oh, $50k dropped in your lap. Free & clear, no strings. What would you do?

Lets see...

Buy a Volvo, put a gun rack on it to spite Robin Williams. Get to driving. Get something to put in the gun rack. Pay for college. Buy some survival stuff.
Buy some RPG books--~$100 or so.
