Don’t stick to the 2e population numbers just cos they’re the 2e population numbers, go with what makes sense.besides, an inflexible number of slaves for the tithe gives city-states a motive to roam the waste and round up escaped slaves or free villages, or to wage little wars against each other for the purpose of taking captives. They weren’t going to do it a second time round though…</blockquote>
