As an older gamer, I am just wondering... what happened to Player's Option. I enjoyed the idea of being able to customize (with points) the notion of specific characters who could "specialize" their skills.
Granted, I saw a lot of players abuse this system (including myself), but I did enjoy the notions that this system allowed a very customized character of mixed lineages (like a gold elf with a touch of drow blood, or something).
Also, this system lent itself often to Planescape, which was IMO, the best expansion off-world campaign setting to ever come out of TSR.
What do people think? Granted, it would need a huge overhaul but I think it would be an interesting thought to see if people could revamp the S&P (Skills & Powers), S&M (Spells & Magic), C&T (Combat & Tactics), and other source material. But imagine, if only for a moment, the possibility of combing through the PrC of 3E (and 3.5E) into a Player's Option rule set.
Thoughts? Ideas? Criticisms?
