What's a 10-foot pole really worth to you?

There's been a shift towards 11 ft poles. Pits and other dungeon formations tend to be in 5 or 10 ft grids, so that extra foot can be crucial.

However, if the question is "what not to touch", I presume the answer to be same as for 10 ft pole. You just can not touch it from 1 foot farther.

What recent controversy surrounding 10-foot poles?

Olaf the Stout

Well, there was this one guy by the wharf selling nine and a half foot poles as ten foot poles. Many adventures died because of that.

Not quite a 10-foot Pole, but close. ;)

Ole's friend Sven was chosen as the new coach for Norway's track and field team for the Olympics next year in Beijing. So Ole decided go head on down to the try-outs, and see if he could get on the team. After all, with his good friend Sven as the coach, he was sure to get in. When Ole arrived, Sven told him, "Oh, I'm so glad you're here. Ve've yust got one spot left on de team... Vould you like to be a polevaulter?"

"No, of course I vouldn't! Vhat's to like about that?" Ole answered irately, "And Sven... my name ain't Valter."

In our new low-level game we've found the 10' pole to be incredibly useful, mostly for poking into the mud and water covering much of the floor of the dungeon complex we've been in so we know how deep it is before we step forward.
