Thanks. Seemed like a bizarre mix to me as well, but there is little overlap (or loss of abilities) for this combo, and therefore makes a quite good option. Stats may need to be decent for the combo to do welll by some people, but I don't worry much about stats being optimal myself. For another Beguiler option, mixing the class with a Charisma focused divine caster like the Favored Soul would be powerful character that also sets up nicely for Mystic Theurge. Any other CHA based casting class would work as well. Going the non-caster route, the rogue combo is ideal and it allows the roguish character to keep the most important skills maxed easily. But then again, the class is already essentially designed as the 'magical rogue' (contrary to the fighting rogue standard), so I don't see fighting classes as very good choices for the Beguiler. Going outside the mainstream, there are Oriental Adventures classes that could mix well. I forget the name, but there is an Aristocrat type OA class that would probably work extremely well, in addition to the ninja/yakuza type classes or asian divine casters.
