Message: <blockquote data-quote="Desdichado" data-source="post: 3274342" data-attributes="member: 2205">Personally I think the question of "is that really D&D, or is that d20 Fantasy" is immaterial.  If you and your group is having a good time, why should anyone else feel like they need to harsh on you for your houserules?  How does it affect them in the slightest?  For that matter, what's the point of trying to compartmentalize like that?  D&D or not-D&D--who cares?  Also, it's not like house rules haven't been around almost since the inception of the game.  It seems that towards the end of the 2e life cycle a collection of house rules was the NORM if anything.  And with the publication of the new(er) Unearthed Arcana there's a bazillion and one "house rules" that are actually official now.Certainly outside of rpg fandom there's no distinction made between D&D and d20 (or any other rpg for that matter) and within rpg fandom but outside of d20 fandom, there's generally a perception that it's all one and the same.  I don't know how many times I've had to wade in and explain to people (mostly who don't know any better at all) that d20 Call of Cthulhu is not D&D in the modern age with Cthulhoid monsters and is actually much more significantly different in tone and feel.</blockquote>
