Here are my ideas: 1) Loban Hapsparrow, Gnome Hexblade Warlock, Noble Background Loban is the son of a noble gnomish family. He's always been a bit of a socialite, a common face at salons and balls. That is, until his father died and the cursed Sparrow Axe was passed on to him. Now he must follow its commands and wade into an endless war against ancient forces. 2) Glorian "Goldie" of Goldbarrow, Tortle Oath of Redemption Paladin, Soldier Background Goldie is an old tortle well past his prime. He used to be a soldier but in his old age has lost a bit of his luster. Now he wanders the streets, taking copper pennies for occasional jobs as a bodyguard or thug. When Loban hires him as a bodyguard, he receives a magic vision of himself as a noble paladin. Loban thinks it's just the Sparrow Axe tricking the old tortle, but Goldie has decided to follow this calling to whatever end he finds. 3) Pietra Von Obyrian, Satyr Kensei Monk, Athlete Background Pietra has trained her entire life at a school of athletics and combat. Recently she has been given a final test: to bring back a legendary weapon to her school. The problem? That weapon is the Sparrow Axe. Pietra has agreed to help Loban on his quest with the caveat that the gnome will give up the axe when the quest is complete. 4) Quarry, Earth Genasi Arcane Trickster Rogue, Urchin Background Quarry is of the streets - literally. When the city was built, Earth Genasi immigrants came to work the stones. They stayed on, but never found acceptance among the other lineages of the city. Quarry has gotten by through her ability to manipulate stone into useful shapes (including a fake coin or a sharp dagger). She struck up an unlikely friendship with Pietra when the Satyr needed help tunneling into an ancient warehouse to retrieve a weapon as a school assignment. Now Pietra has come to ask Quarry once more to join a dangerous quest. Well, that sounds like more fun than skipping stones!
