I was going to say "the most retarded", but hey...trying to be sensitive here. :) But who else has this happened to? You're putting together a new campaign, and everyone comes up with a character, just fine. Then one guy, in an effort to be different and stand out, comes up with THE most asinine concept for a character. There's this former player of mine who desperately loved attention, so he'd be as different as possibly could. Heck, even in church he'd deliberately sing off-key in order to stand out from the crowd. So, one day, he rolls up a Ranger. OK, so far so good. A Ranger with amnesia. He can't remember his name or where he's from, or why he's here. OK, that could work. He also can't remember how to fight. Or use skills. He can't track...he's forgotten how. No spells. No languages save Common. Can't use a bow. Or a sword. Nothing. The rest of the players (let alone their characters) were absolutely exasperated. This guy basically played a dead weight...a 1st level nimrod. And he gave me NO idea where he wanted to go with this, nor any real encouragement for me to run with it and come up with something for him. Nope. Ranger with amnesia. About as useful as a catflap in an elephant house.
