Whats the volume of a Large Air Elemental in Whirlwind form:

5 foot wide base x 40 ft high x 30 ft wide top?

So how many medium sized creatures could it fit all together? Ho many small?

What about a medium sized Whirlwind?

Volume is as a cone. You don't strictly need to abide by it, however, as people can have limbs and the like occasionally sticking out of the cone. This is just my uninformed guess, but I generally wouldn't have more than four Medium creatures inside without ejecting somebody.

For a Medium air elemental, adjust your math accordingly.

Mathematically, the volume of a cone 40 ft high with a 15 ft radius is approx. 9426 cubic feet. Assuming a 5 ft cube (125 cubic feet) as the space taken up for any medium sized creatures, that cone could hold 75 medium-sized creatures. You probably want to drop that number a teensy bit :)

I've always found it funny that Medium creatures are 5 ft. tall or less. :)

Seventy-five? Huh. I guess it pays to do the actual math. Interesting.

Although I note that that's at the maximum 40' height rather than at the minimum 10' height . . . I suppose it varies widely.
