All I received was a check. Because it was *contract* work, which you as the contractor carry the onerous duty of reporting and paying taxes on (1099's and schedule C's and depreciation, oh my!). It's similar to when you hire a general contractor to do home improvement by ripping out your kitchen cabinets and putting in new ones.
