He arrived in the campaign world as a replacement for a dead Cleric at 10th level, and had progressed to 17th level. I duck into the biggest building I can find looking for the enemy general.Not only do I find him, but his apprentice too, and both of them are swordmasters. Even with Expertise, I'm suffering lots of damage whilst whittling away at their hit points. Eventually, I look at my hp and realise that one more round is going to kill me.I look up at the DM and say "I drop the Expertise and go for 10 points of power attack. Either I kill them, or they kill me." I'd also been writing a lot of between session story hour material, focusing on his quest for self-enlightenment through training and developing of new combat skills.The dice roll - natural 20! Confirmed! Over 100 points of damage and the general is dead, and I cleave into the apprentice...for another critical hit, killing him in one blow. Given I was using a spear and the threat range was 19-20 this was pretty remarkable...Fittingly, it was the last time I played that character before leaving the group. Congrats to S'mon, who was running the session - I had enjoyed the campaign but other circumstances meant I had to change games.</blockquote>
